Maximum size - 3.5 inches in length.

Preferable Temperature of 24-26 Degrees Celcius

Feeding - Bivalves, such as golden mussels, feed in a very different way to that of snails - they filter feed from the water. Water is sucked into the shell of the animal and is filtered for small food particles, the cleaned water is then expelled at the other end of the shell. Bivalves can be offered all of the snail pellets we sell at Snail Shop, but these must first be crushed up to powder form and diluted in a solution of aquarium water before being offered to them. A kitchen baster or a small pipet is a useful tool which can be used to get the food solution close to the bivalve without disturbing it. Food should be offered at least twice a day.
Do NOT keep snails with loaches (sucking loaches are ok), pufferfish, crabs, crayfish or large aggressive fish as they will attack & pester mussels.
